The letter from Premium Times asking information on the arrest and incarceration of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has been answered by the government of the United Kingdom (UK).
Obi was held by UK immigration officials at Heathrow Airport in London, according to a previous story from Naija News.
Obi was detained, according to the Obi-Datti media office, after being approached by an immigration official who gave him a detention note and told him to move aside.
But when the news outlet asked for more information regarding Obi’s arrest, the UK Government refused to give it.
The UK authorities stated they don’t comment on specific instances in a brief response on Thursday.
“We do not comment on individual cases,” Chloe Newman, senior communications officer – of Newsdesk Communications Directorate, stated in the reply on Thursday.
The platform had written the letter on April 13th, 2023, in an effort to comprehend the facts behind Obi’s trials in the UK.
Following his ordeal in London last week, it is still unknown if Obi was deported and if he currently has a valid UK access visa.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu won the presidential election held on February 25, 2023, in which Obi ran as an opponent.
