Hoodlums allegedly stormed and set fire to the ancestral home of Paschal Okolie, the legislator representing Orlu district in the Imo State House of Assembly, in Umudara, Akwakuma- Opkoro.
Okolie, who confirmed the attack yesterday, said it happened around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, and that some of his paperwork, antiquities, books, and other important goods were destroyed. He asked the security guards to apprehend the arsonists and bring them to justice.
The legislator expressed amazement that the hoodlums would do such a thing to him because he has always opposed evil in society. “Arsonists stormed my residence in Umudara, Akwakuma- Opkoro, around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2023, and set it ablaze,” he added. I’ve always been against evil.”
Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, had yet to issue a remark on the incident.
In recent times, many homes in the state have been set ablaze, and human lives have also been lost as a result of gunman attacks. The gunmen also stormed the Oguta High Court, which is located at the Oguta Local Council headquarters in Imo State, at 11.30 p.m. on Sunday, destroying the facility.
According to a source, the areas that were burned were the Magistrate’s Court Registry, the Appeal Court Record office, the File Room, the Secretary to the High Court Judge’s office, the Office of the Bailiff of the High Court, and the Judge’s Chamber.
According to The Guardian, the complex’s structure had been compromised by suspected explosives and would be dismantled before another construction could be built.
