Timaya – My Moto

Legendary Nigerian singer and songwriter, Timaya return to the music scene with another heartbreaking single titled “My Moto”.

Timaya Odon was born on August 15, 1977, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and is also a Rivers State native. He grew raised at Agip Estate, Port Harcourt, as the youngest of fifteen children in a huge family. His father worked in banking, and his mother worked in trading. Odon attended Assemblies of God Nursery And Primary School for his early schooling. He continued his high school studies at Nkpolu Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria, breaking home rules to attend late-night music events. Timaya’s mother had previously planned for him to travel to Lagos with his older brother and sister before he graduated from high school. He was admitted to Lagos University after migrating to the state.

Timaya later went to Port Harcourt to study Banking and Finance at the tertiary level, however, he failed his exams and quit after the first semester of the 100 level. He then returned to Lagos to work as a backing vocalist or singer for Eedris Abdulkareem’s hip-hop ensemble. Timaya left the group after three years to pursue his solo career after working for Eedris.

Over the years, Timaya has released numerous hit songs and albums, earning him a large fan base in Nigeria and across Africa. Some of his popular tracks include “Plantain Boy,” “Bum Bum,” “Ukwu,” “Sanko,” “Bang Bang,” and “Balance.” His music often combines elements of Afrobeat, dancehall, reggae, and highlife, creating a distinct sound that appeals to a wide audience.

Timaya has received several awards and nominations throughout his career, including the Nigeria Music Awards, The Headies, and the MTV Africa Music Awards. He is also known for his energetic live performances and has performed at various concerts and festivals both in Nigeria and internationally.

Apart from his music career, Timaya is a philanthropist and has been involved in various charitable activities. He is the founder of the Timaya Foundation, which focuses on giving back to society by providing scholarships, supporting orphanages, and empowering young people.

Timaya’s music continues to be popular, and he remains one of the prominent figures in the Nigerian music industry, contributing to the growth and development of Afrobeat and dancehall music.

In addition, this new version of “My Moto” is the follow-up to “Sweet Us” – his previous hit song.

Yung Willis, a very talented singer and record producer, is the mastermind behind this amazing piece of music.
