Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has stated that everyone has to accept responsibility for their team’s 3-0 Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle on Wednesday.
In front of their home fans, the Red Devils were ousted from the competition.
By taking home the trophy earlier this year, Ten Hag had put an end to the six-year search for silverware.
However, things have become worse since then, as this campaign’s eighth loss in 15 games came against them against Newcastle.
It follows a humiliating 3-0 loss to Manchester City the previous weekend.
“We know this is not good enough. We have to take responsibility for it, I have to take responsibility for it.
“We don’t give the performance, so I feel sorry for the fans.
“It is below our standards and we have to put it right,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports.
“We have to recover from it but we have to quickly recover – Saturday is the next game (against Fulham), and we have to raise our standards. This is not good enough.”
